Notes

'Ellen' butterfly bush (Buddleja davidii 'Ellen') is a shrub for borders, cottage gardens, pollinator gardens, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It bears fragrant, deep blue blooms in summer and again in autumn, and butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds visit them. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. Give it room, since it grows fast and arches out to 60 inches wide.

Pairs well with Gaura, Ornamental onion, and Smoketree.
