Notes

'Royal Red' butterfly bush (Buddleja davidii 'Royal Red') is a shrub for borders, pollinator gardens, cottage gardens, and hedges. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Magenta purple blooms are fragrant and open in early to late summer, then again in early to late autumn. Butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds visit the flowers. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits.

Pairs well with Feather reed grass, Black Baccara rose, and Lily.
