Notes

'Essex' rose (Rosa 'Essex') is a shrub for borders, cottage gardens, containers, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full sun and loamy or clay soil. Medium pink, fragrant blooms appear from early to late summer and attract bees. Poulsen Roser introduced it in 1991. Its spreading habit stays low, so it fills the front of a bed.

Pairs well with Rock rose, Blue grama, and Annabelle hydrangea.
