Notes

'Esther Mittendorff' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Esther Mittendorff') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. W. E. Lanigan bred it. The large double flowers open in mid to late spring in light rose pink, paling at the tips of the petals. They are fragrant and plentiful, and the sturdy stems and good foliage make a tidy, moderately tall plant.

Pairs well with Queen of Night tulip, Garlic chives, and Indian Summer rudbeckia.
