Notes

'Estland' black chokeberry (Aronia melanocarpa 'Estland') is a shrub for borders, hedges, rain gardens, and food gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows 4 to 6 feet tall and 6 to 8 feet wide with an erect habit. Fragrant white flowers open in early to late spring and draw butterflies, bees, and birds. The leaves also turn color in fall.

Pairs well with Northern bayberry, Royal fern, Gooseneck loosestrife, and White fringe tree.
