Notes

'Excelsa' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Excelsa') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Large, light pink rose-type blooms open late in the season on strong, upright stems. The foliage looks good, and the plant reaches about 39 inches tall. Alonzo B. Franklin bred it.

Pairs well with Dog's tooth violet, Cinnamon fern, and Pink Impression tulip.
