Notes

'Fairy Tale' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Fairy Tale') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Its fragrant, dark red flowers open in early summer. The blooms are anemone form and look almost like a bomb. Edward Auten, Jr bred it, and it grows tall, up to 35 inches.

Pairs well with Spanish bluebell, Sensitive fern, Blue sage, and Foxtail barley.
