Notes
Fiddleneck (Phacelia tanacetifolia) is an annual for borders, pollinator gardens, and meadows. It grows well in cool weather and can ride out a light frost. This plant likes full sun and dry to average, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Bell-shaped, lavender-blue flowers open in fiddlehead clusters near the tops of the stems, and bees and butterflies visit them. Deer tend to browse other plants first. Its feathery leaves add soft texture to the planting.
Pairs well with Indian grass, Evening primrose, and Zinnia.
