Notes

Silky phacelia (Phacelia sericea) is a perennial for borders, meadows, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes part sun or part shade and dry, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Dense silvery hairs cover the leaves and stems. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. Purple flowers open in early to late summer in tight clusters that look fringed because of the long stamens, and bees visit them.

Pairs well with California poppy, Flowering flax, Bird's foot violet, and Eastern gamagrass.
