Notes

'Fire Bird' peony (Paeonia 'Fire Bird') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Large, fragrant, dark red double blooms open in spring and attract bees and butterflies. Edward Auten, Jr bred it in 1956. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first.

Pairs well with Liberty hosta, Nodding onion, and Indian grass.
