Notes

'Fire Down Below' peony (Paeonia 'Fire Down Below') is a shrub for borders, cottage gardens, specimen planting, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. Its semi-double, rose-red and orange-red flowers reach 6 inches wide in early to late spring. The deep blue green foliage is finely cut, and lost stems regrow after winter damage.

Pairs well with Cat mint, Lungwort, and Big bluestem.
