Notes

'Firebolt' peony (Paeonia 'Firebolt') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The red, fragrant blooms open late in the hybrid season, and the heavy stems hold the upright plants steady. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. David Reath bred it in 1992.

Pairs well with August Moon hosta, Paprika yarrow, Blue grama, and Stargazer lily.
