Notes

Firecracker flower (Dichelostemma coccinea) is a bulb for borders, containers, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to average, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Red tubular flowers hang in clusters atop leafless stalks and draw hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees. Give it reasonable moisture while it grows and keep it dry when dormant.

Pairs well with Redwood, Madrone, and Switchgrass.
