Notes
'Red Empire' firecracker flower (Dichelostemma ida-maia 'Red Empire') is a bulb for borders, cut flowers, pollinator gardens, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to average, sandy or clay soil. Dark purple-red blooms appear in spring and again in summer. Hummingbirds, bees, and birds visit them, and the plant tolerates drought. Royal Blue B.V. bred it.
Pairs well with Society garlic, Anemone, Catnip, and Snapdragon.
