Notes
Firecracker flower (Dichelostemma ida-maia) is a bulb for borders, cut flowers, pollinator gardens, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to average, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Narrow, grass-like leaves give rise to clusters of red, green, and white tubular flowers. Hummingbirds and butterflies visit the blooms. Give it reasonable moisture while it grows, and keep it dry when it goes dormant.
Pairs well with Spotted beebalm, Queen of Night tulip, and Goldenrod.

USA (Oregon and California).
