Notes
Firecracker penstemon (Penstemon eatonii) is a perennial for borders and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to average, sandy or loamy soil. Scarlet tubular flowers top tall stems and draw hummingbirds and bees. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. Drought tolerant plants like this one do well on dry banks.
Pairs well with Damianita, Apache plume, and Blackfoot daisy.
