Notes

'Firefly' peony (Paeonia 'Firefly') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. The bright rose red blooms open in early to late spring and attract butterflies. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Derek Irvine bred it in 2001.

Pairs well with Cat mint, Royal Purple smoketree, and Nelly Moser clematis.
