Notes

'Firey Coals' peony (Paeonia 'Firey Coals') is a shrub for borders, cottage gardens, cut flowers, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. The blooms are orange over yellow and open in early to late spring, and butterflies visit them. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits. Derek Irvine bred it in 2001.

Pairs well with Elegans hosta, Blue fescue, and Arabella clematis.
