First Ghost Japanese maple

Notes

'First Ghost' Japanese maple (Acer palmatum 'First Ghost') is a tree for specimen planting, small gardens, and fall color. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes part sun. Spring leaves open white to cream with deep green veins and red-purple edges. By mid-summer the leaves may fade to green, and fall brings golden yellow to orange. Shade it from hot afternoon sun for the best color.

Pairs well with Autumn fern, Western hemlock, and Northwind switchgrass.
