Notes

'First Love' carnation (Dianthus 'First Love') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to average soil of most types. The fragrant blooms open white and age to pink and lavender rose. Butterflies and bees visit the flowers. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal.

Pairs well with Cheyenne Spirit echinacea, Blue fescue, and Black Parrot tulip.
