Notes

'Ideal Violet' dianthus (Dianthus 'Ideal Violet') is a perennial for borders, rock gardens, containers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to average, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. It blooms in spring and again in summer, and the flowers are fragrant. Butterflies and bees visit the blooms.

Pairs well with Cheyenne Spirit echinacea, Blue fescue, and Pink Impression tulip.
