Notes

'Flame red' garden phlox (Phlox paniculata 'Flame red') is a perennial for borders, cottage gardens, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. Deer rarely make it their first choice. It forms a clumping plant and blooms from early to late summer. The fragrant flowers draw butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees.

Pairs well with Coneflower, Dense blazing star, Plum Royale coral bells, and Standing Ovation little bluestem.
