Notes

'Flames of Tartarus' peony (Paeonia 'Flames of Tartarus') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The semi-double red flowers have narrow, flame-like petals, and Joshua Scholten bred this upright plant. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice.

Pairs well with August Moon hosta, PowWow White coneflower, and Switchgrass.
