Flanders fig

Garden uses

Notes

'Flanders' fig (Ficus carica 'Flanders') is a fruit tree for the food garden. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full sun, so give it the hottest, sunniest spot you have. It is grown for medium to large figs with amber flesh and a sweet, tangy, citrusy flavor. Cool summers bring mostly an early breba crop, while lots of heat brings a heavy late crop. You can prune it smaller or train it as an espalier or in a container.

Pairs well with Persimmon, Raspberry, and Artichoke.
