Notes

'Chicago Hardy' fig (Ficus carica 'Chicago Hardy') is a fruit for borders, containers, and food gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. It is grown for fresh eating, preserves, and drying. The medium-sized fruit ripens early in summer and has sweet pink flesh. It can still set some fruit when the stems die back to the ground.

Pairs well with Hidcote lavender, Sage, and Creeping thyme.
