Notes
Fringed bleeding heart (Dicentra eximia) is a perennial for shade gardens, woodland settings, borders, and rock gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to moist, loamy, clay, or chalky soil. Rose pink to purplish red flowers appear in spring, summer, and autumn. Butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees visit the blooms. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice.
Pairs well with Woodland phlox, Yellow trout-lily, Incrediball hydrangea, and Standing Ovation little bluestem.
