fumewort

Notes

Fumewort (Corydalis cava) is a spring-blooming plant for woodland gardens, shade gardens, and early color under trees. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade. Spikes of rose purple flowers open in early to late spring, rising 4 to 8 inches tall. It goes dormant by summer, so pair it with later perennials that fill the gap.

Pairs well with Francee hosta, Cinnamon fern, and Autumn Brilliance juneberry.
