Notes

'Gary Indiana' peony (Paeonia 'Gary Indiana') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Fragrant lavender flowers open in early to late spring and fade toward the edges. The ruffled petals have blush edging that gives a frosted look. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by.

Pairs well with Paris coral bells, Greig's tulip, and Bottlebrush buckeye.
