Notes

'Gates of Rome' peony (Paeonia 'Gates of Rome') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The fragrant, double, salmon pink flowers have frilled, ruffled outer petals, and the strong upright stems need no staking. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Joshua Scholten bred it.

Pairs well with Sum and Substance hosta, Carnaval De Nice tulip, and Switchgrass.
