Notes

'Gauguin' peony (Paeonia 'Gauguin') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Red petals with yellow streaks open in early to late spring and attract butterflies. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Nassos Daphnis bred it.

Pairs well with Elegans hosta, Balloon flower, Lily, and Anglojap yew.
