Notes

'Gentleman Jim' peony (Paeonia 'Gentleman Jim') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The single, fragrant flowers are a clear, deep red and open in late April. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. William Henry Krekler bred it.

Pairs well with Golden Tiara hosta, Prairie dropseed, Nodding onion, and Clustered bellflower.
