Notes

'Glaucum' little bluestem (Schizachyrium scoparium 'Glaucum') is a grass for borders, pollinator gardens, meadows, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It forms a clumping mound up to 36 inches tall and 12 to 18 inches wide. Purplish-bronze blooms appear in summer and autumn, and butterflies, bees, and birds visit them. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal.

Pairs well with Goldsturm black-eyed Susan, Spotted joe-pye weed, and Red cedar.
