Notes

'Glou Morçeau' pear (Pyrus communis 'Glou Morçeau') is a tree for food gardens and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to average, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. White flowers open from early to late spring and draw butterflies, bees, and birds. The pear is grown for fresh eating, and it is not self-fertile, so plant a second pear nearby for pollination. Abbe Hardenpont bred it in the 1750s.

Pairs well with Serviceberry, Woolly yarrow, and Indian grass.
