Notes
'Gouchaultii' red-barked dogwood (Cornus alba 'Gouchaultii') is a shrub for borders, hedges, winter interest, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. It grows fast and forms an arching mound. Yellowish-white flowers open in spring and early summer, and bees, butterflies, and birds visit them.
Pairs well with Northern bayberry, Sensitive fern, Gooseneck loosestrife, and White fringe tree.
