Notes

Grand fir (Abies grandis) is a tree for low maintenance gardens and foundation plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It is an evergreen with a narrow, pointed crown and slightly drooping branches. The bark on small trunks has blisters that squirt fragrant resin when you pinch them. Birds visit this fast growing tree.

Pairs well with Western hemlock, Ocean spray, and Thimbleberry.
