Notes

Pacific silver fir (Abies amabilis) is a tree for accent and woodland gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and average to moist, loamy soil. Its conical crown has short, down-curving branches and flat, fernlike foliage. The needles have shining silvery undersides, which gives the tree its name. Birds visit it, and the evergreen foliage is fragrant.

Pairs well with Japanese forest grass, Bracken, Rainbow's End hosta, and Coralbells.
