Notes

Green hawthorn (Crataegus viridis) is a tree for specimen planting, accent, winter interest, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. White flowers open in early to late spring and draw bees and butterflies, while small red to yellow fruit feeds birds. It sits low on the menu for deer.

Pairs well with New Jersey tea, Switchgrass, and Blue wild indigo.
