Notes

'Green Lotus' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Green Lotus') is a perennial that grows 24 to 30 inches tall. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average moisture. The rippled, twisted petals open white and green, then turn yellow and pink with age. William Henry Krekler bred it, and the lightly fragrant blooms appear from early to late spring. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Black Hero tulip, Japanese spirea, and Alaska violet.
