Notes
'Hadrian’s Villa' peony (Paeonia 'Hadrian’s Villa') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Early blooming, lemon yellow flowers are semi-double and lightly fragrant on upright stems that need no support. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. Joshua Scholten bred it.
Pairs well with Fringed bleeding heart, Autumn Frost hosta, Black Parrot tulip, and Standing Ovation little bluestem.
