Haschberg blue elderberry

Garden uses

Notes

'Haschberg' blue elderberry (Sambucus nigra 'Haschberg') is a shrub for the food garden. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun. It is a leading fruiting variety of black elderberry and bears large clusters of juicy, flavorful, bluish black berries. White flowers open in early to late spring against dark green leaves, so it also works as an ornamental shrub.

Pairs well with Honeyberry, Pink Lemonade blueberry, Golden Delicious apple, and Rhubarb.
