Notes

'Black Lace' blue elderberry (Sambucus nigra 'Black Lace') is a shrub for borders, specimens, hedges, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil of most types. It grows fast and forms a multi-stemmed clump. Fragrant blooms open in early to late summer and attract butterflies and birds. Deer rarely make it their first choice.

Pairs well with Variegata giant dogwood, Ostfriesland sage, and Purple Sensation ornamental onion.
