Notes

Hawthorn (Crataegus nitida) is a tree for hedges, privacy screens, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. White flowers open in early to late spring and attract butterflies and bees. Birds visit the tree too, and it tolerates drought once settled.

Pairs well with Oakleaf hydrangea, American holly, and Blue mistflower.
