Notes

'Hazel Lyons' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Hazel Lyons') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Colonel Jesse C. Nicholls bred it, and Gilbert H. Wild and Son introduced it in 1958. The globular, dark rose-pink blooms open late in spring. Their petals are deeply cut and silvered at the edges.

Pairs well with Columbine, Butterfly milkweed, and Ostrich fern.
