Notes

Hens and chicks (Sempervivum tectorum) is a succulent for rock gardens, containers, borders, and low maintenance spots. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to average, sandy or loamy soil. It forms low evergreen rosettes that spread sideways, and bees and butterflies visit it. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Foliage comes in gold, gray, green, and purple shades.

Pairs well with Blue grama, Blue Rug juniper, Butterfly milkweed, and Ice plant.
