Notes

'Herald' peony (Paeonia 'Herald') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Its enormous shining red flowers are fragrant and cover the plant in bloom. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Bees and butterflies visit the blooms.

Pairs well with Dancing Queen hosta, Standing Ovation little bluestem, and Limeglow creeping juniper.
