Notes

'Herculaneum' peony (Paeonia 'Herculaneum') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Deep red, semi-double flowers face upward in midseason, and bees and butterflies visit them. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. The upright stems reach about 33 inches and need no support.

Pairs well with Dancing Queen hosta, Standing Ovation little bluestem, Pink Impression tulip, and Incrediball Storm Proof smooth hydrangea.
