Notes
'Hoary' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Hoary') is a perennial for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Tall stems carry loose, double, milk white flowers from late spring to mid summer. Long yellow stamens hide inside the blooms and make them glow. William Henry Krekler bred it.
Pairs well with Balloon flower, Royal fern, Spanish bluebell, and Foxtail barley.
