Notes
'Hong Xia' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Hong Xia') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Strong reddish-purple, semi-double flowers open in mid to late spring. They face upward, measure about 5.5 inches across, and smell highly fragrant.
Pairs well with Krossa Regal hosta, Carnaval De Nice tulip, and Cinnamon fern.
