Notes

'Hot Gates' peony (Paeonia 'Hot Gates') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Large red semi-double flowers have ruffled petals, and the color does not fade. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits. The upright plants need no support.

Pairs well with Stella de Oro daylily, Minuteman hosta, and Switchgrass.
