Notes

'Hot Rod' switchgrass (Panicum virgatum 'Hot Rod') is a grass for borders, accents, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy or clay soil. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. It grows in a clump at a moderate pace, and butterflies and birds visit it.

Pairs well with Little bluestem, Great blue lobelia, and Oakleaf hydrangea.
